scoots

Just for scoots (and anyone else).

Look, it's not just a song for memories! It's a song for grown-up happiness and nostalgia, too! (Unless you're one of those that doesn't like to see originals "tainted"... :-)

I think now that I don't have TV, I'm getting way more interested in online videos, haha.

And then, of course, the original! :

poodleish

My friend erinpez might be the best music-picker in the world. Seriously. Once she made me two mix CDs -- "Meagan's Mellow Mix" and "Moody Music, aka It's Not That Easy Bein' Blue". Treasures. I have her myspace page open in another window right this moment intentionally just so I can listen to her profile song over and over again. It's "Guaranteed" by Eddie Vedder from Into the Wild. I don't even know what that is, but I like it. It seems like the music she chooses is without fail just right for each moment. A while ago she had a youtube video linked on her blog that I watched 5 times in one sitting. Just sitting there, crying, watching Gonzo and his other muppet buddies singing around a campfire. Then she took it off. (grrr!) On my blog-catching-up-rampage of the other day, I tried to go back to that post of hers and youtube told me it was gone. I'm gonna go try to find it on youtube right now. BRB....

Ah yes, here it is....

(hmmm, first time I've posted a video in my blog. We'll see if it works...) (hmm, it's kind of quiet, turn your speakers up.) (hmm, I use way too many parenthesis.) (way too many "hmm"s, too.)

I can just see Erin living her life there out in the wilderness of Yellowstone Park along to this fabulous soundtrack I get little snippets of here and there from her in the wilderness of the internet.
(not quite sure why little Mr Bill is there with her on that rock...I bet there's an entertaining story behind that... :-)

I miss you, Erin!

In other news, today I acquired a really, really, cooooooollll fan (haha, a "cool" fan) from the lobby of my building. It had been left in that unofficial and illegal location by the mailboxes where people occasionally leave random junk -- old printers, monitors, lampshades, magazines, etc. -- that they don't want to go to all the hassle (sarcasm) of craigslisting it or something, but are too lazy or green or trashy to just put it in the dumpster. So usually seeing something there just pisses me off and reminds me that I have trashy neighbors. But when I saw this I snatched it up immediately and surreptitiously whisked it up to my place. Yipee! One less reason to use the money-gulping AC! (Gulp. Gulp. Gulp. That just reminded me of the musical Tanya and I are going to write one day. Called "Gulp.")

cubicleland

40 hours a week, this is now my life:

Cubicle Sweet Cubicle.

anybodys

Today I have read a bajillion and three posts attempting (and failing) to catch up with all my blogbuddies. That's right, those of you listed in my sidebar here, I've been poking around your blog today, every one of you. Katie, Erin, Scoots, Emily, Katiepez, Dinglemunch, Nicole, Jim, Phoenix, DavidAmulet. Fun!

This week I have been facility managing for a performance at the Performing Arts Center that I used to run. I'm just filling in this time, making some yummy money. The show is "West Side Story", which I'm sure you've all heard of. "West Side Story" done by teenagers. Holy george orwell, that's a lot of potential for crap. But they do have pro director, choreographer, and stage manager. And their performances are actually kinda okay. Not enough so that I want to sit through three performances of it, by any means! Therefore, that explains why I have read all your blogs today. I've missed them. I've missed YOU!

The girl who is singing Maria in this production has a very sweet, very Maria-ish mid-range voice and then when she goes any higher than like a B, oh my freaking gosh, it hurts my ears. Nasally like crazy. I do not understand why her musical director did not request she do it differently and work with her on that. Yes, I know this is a kids production, but still, that is so easy to improve.

Two of my original blogbuddies, Tanya and David (neither of them are on blogger anymore, they blog still though on myspace and/or facebook) are in town and are coming to my show tomorrow. Eeeep!!! That makes me so happy. And also a little apprehensive just because I've been so out of touch with both of them for so long. Out of touch besides basic little "hello, how ya doin" comments here and there, that is. Either way, it will be fun for myself and for our whole cast (all of 2) to see them. I'm doing "john & jen" on an outdoor stage at an organic farm, gardens, gourmet restaurant. Very cool venue, this is the 6th show I've done there over the years and, even though it is very much macgyver-style theater, it's still a special place.

I've hired three student technicians for this "West Side Story" I was talking about a paragraph ago. A few minutes ago they just came into the office and pulled me away from this highly important task of blogging to come explore the hidden depths of the theater with them. At first I was honored that they wanted to hang out with me, but then I remembered that I am the one with the all-access keys and the flashlight. Heh. So we went on an adventure peeking through holes in the catwalks and discovering pathways, unlocking doors that they'd never seen unlocked before, discovering there was nothing behind those doors except HVAC misc, open space, and a stray can of chew (which was terribly comical to them). We decided it must be one of the custodians secret hiding places. We shone my flashlight through a crevice between two walls in the amplifier power alcove and discovered a vast open area that they are now determined to find a way to get to. Good luck, psychos, I said. (That's what I call all kids--psychos.)

Have I told you before about how the automatic toilets in this place sometimes flush all on their own? I think I have. Fuh-reaky!
Anybody want to buy a puppy coat? I have one for sale. :-) Mackie is now 22 pounds. He has grown up to be a monster shih tzu.
