cosby show

The Cosby Show is the best sitcom in the whole wide world. Just like there is a weather channel, and a sports channel, and a home channel, I think there should be a COSBY SHOW CHANNEL. I would never leave my house. I would just stay home and watch The Cosby Show all the time.

I think it is the perfect television show. If I were to have kids (which I'm NOT) I would want my family to be just like the Huxstable family. Except with an easier to spell last name. Like Leonard.

silly quiz

You know those silly quizzes all over the place in blog-world? Like "What Kind of Girl Are You?" or "What Japanese Anime Character Are You? or "Which Dog Do You Best Identify With?" or "Which TV Sitcom's Best Friend Neighbor Character Are You Most Like?" And so on. Myspace.com is overwhelmed with them. It's ridiculous. Anyway, I think the only redeeming value of them is when you are entertained by your answer and can say, "oh my gosh! That is so NOT me!" or when you are surprised by an answer and actually think, "wow, this stupid quiz {most likely created by an 8-year-old} actually gets me!"

So today I took a quiz. Many of my friends on my myspace site are high schoolers and this last week has been spring break. Which means they have WAY TOO MUCH time spent "pimping out" their myspace sites. The quizzes are abundant.

Here's the one I took today. See if you can figure out why this one is extra stupid, before I tell you why...
(note: I don't know how to change the text color in the html so you might have to highlight the text with your cursor to read what it says after the number "26". Oops.)

You Are 26 Years Old

26

Under 12: You are a kid at heart. You still have an optimistic life view - and you look at the world with awe.

13-19: You are a teenager at heart. You question authority and are still trying to find your place in this world.

20-29: You are a twentysomething at heart. You feel excited about what's to come... love, work, and new experiences.

30-39: You are a thirtysomething at heart. You've had a taste of success and true love, but you want more!

40+: You are a mature adult. You've been through most of the ups and downs of life already. Now you get to sit back and relax.

So do you get it? Do you see why it's stupid?

BECAUSE I REALLY AM 26!!!! THIS QUIZ DOESN'T GIVE ME ANY ENTERTAINING INSIGHTS or even anything to mock. Oh well. Yay for wasting time.

On to other news in the cheerful life of Meagan...

I got a new kitchen sink today! If it wasn't such a hassle to post pictures here I'd post one for you. Even now that I know how to post pictures, I'm too impatient when it comes to blogs to actually do it. Anyway, yes, I took a picture of the sink. :-) I took a picture to email to Mike since he hasn't seen it. I didn't realize I needed a new sink until a friend askd me if I wanted her lovely black granite one. Suddenly I had a strong dislike of my current sink. Funny how that works.

My friends Shane and Stefan came over to install the sink. They were here for at least five hours and refused to even let me pay them. Except in dinner. I made lasagna (store-bought lasgna. I wouldn't even have a clue how to mke lasagna from scratch. And these boys greatly appreciate food. I am always amazed at how much they can eat! They live at New Song as interns.... meaning they do whatever I ask them to! (just kidding! Really!). Anyway, there's three interns right now, all around the mid-late twenties age and they are hilarious. I have so much fun with them and it is so... so ... inspiring being with them because they are all totally excited about God-stuff and just living 100% for and with Jesus.

Today is Maundy Thursday. Happy Maundy Thursday! I have no idea what Maundy Thursday is, but I think I should find out. When I finish this entry I'm going to look it up. Yay for the internet.

blog thoughts

The last few days I've been sending myself an email with the subject line "blog" every time I've had the thought "hmmm, that'd make an entertaining blog entry." So here, dear friends, is the compliation of my recent "blog thoughts." Don't get too excited.

i saw the coolest thing today. a man on a tvguide special (yes, i was watching the tvguide channel. yes, i can be pathetic at times. yes, i think you should shutup because i was working at the same time) had a "to-do list" tattoo on his forearm. It was just the words "to do" and a few fill-in-the-blanks lines. i need that. i write on my hands all the time. how cool would it be to have a ready-made template there for me to just fill in the blanks? except what if I get freed from this obssesive/compulsive/ anal way of living and don't make lists so often? then i'd be stuck with a stupid tattoo.

i think i'll go back to the toe-ring-tattoo idea. That'd be my ideal tattoo. Erin, her sister, and her mom all have the same tattoo. I think that is the extra coolest.

"He's gonna need a lot of food stamps."
quote from pauly shore in the not-so-popular movie "son in law". At the moment and in context I thought it was the most hilarious line. Now re-reading it here in my blog it's not so funny all on it's own. Have you seen that movie? It was a pretty funny line, wasn't it?

you know what would be a really bad invention idea? if someone thought it'd be cool to rearrange the numbers on a telephone. or any standard keypad. like instead of the numbers being in 3 columns read left to right, they'd be in two long lines. Or even worse in 3 columns read up and down. That would suck. I heard recently about a re-organized keyboard. Instead of the standard qwerty keyboard that we all learned to type on it has the letter rearranged by those that some expert long ago decided were most common. craziness.

grown-up sadness

One of the advantages (or disadvantages?) of living in the same tiny town I grew up in is that I drive past my old neighborhood frequently. Today as I passed Princess Way I saw the old man who lived across the street from my childhood house (and apparently still does) tending his rocks. His rocks--you know, the kind of lawns that are made up of small white rocks, a few desert-like plants, and a garden gnome or two? Yes, he was spraying something (rock fertilizer?) on the rocks all around his little red-hatted gnome. This man was at least two million years old when I was a frightened five-year-old living across the street from him. Frightened because my mommy told me he was a Lion and that seemed like a very scary thing to have as a neighbor. Anyway, if he was two million years old back then I guess now he would be two-million-twenty-one years old. My mother told me last week that his wife of 57 years died recently. She knows this because they all go to church together in this same tiny town. In my mother's words, the funeral for his wife, his beloved "Lioness", was "a glorious homecoming." So for me, being married for 4.5 years and unable to imagine life without Mike, seeing this man outside the house he's lived in for at least thrity years, fertilizing his rocks, next to his garden gnome, was an unbelievable grown-up sadness.
